Bangladesh Institute of Glass and Ceramics operate under the executive control of the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh acting through the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE). The academic programmes are, however function under the academic regulation of the Bangladesh Technical Education Board (BTEB).
The Institute offers Diploma in Engineering and SSC (Vocational), and NSS (Basic) courses in the following technologies and trades:
6.1 Four year Diploma in Engineering courses
Ceramic Technology : 100
Glass Technology : 50
6.2 SSC (Vocational) courses
Ceramic Trade : 30
Glass Trade : 30
6.3 NSS (National Skill Standard) Basic (360 hrs) courses
Building and Architectural
Drafting with Auto CAD : 20
Computer Operation : 20
The Diploma in Engineering courses are of 4-years duration divided into eight semesters, including Industrial Training of one semester duration. SSC (Vocational) courses are of 2-years duration, 1-year for grade Ix and 1-year for grade x and both includes 6 weeks of Industrial Training. Grade Ix and grade x are equivalent to NSS-III and NSS-II respectively.
Since 1994-95 Diploma in Engineering courses are operating in two shifts. The first shift operates from 8:00 am to 1:35 pm while the Second Shift from 1:35 pm to 7:40 pm.
